Sevier Co Increase in Sales Tax In Effect.

If you missed it (and many people did), the local sales tax increase of .25% for Sevier County went into effect on July 1st. The government has appologized for not using more efficient notification in an effort to save money.
At this time businesses in Sevier Co are to charge 9.75% Sales and Use Tax. The local Gross Receipts and Restaurant taxes have not been increased at this time.

SUTA INCREASES RATE AND LIMIT!

The State of Tennessee has increased the Unemployment Insurance Compensation or SUTA limit from $7000.00 to $9000.00. The State has also decided to back date this decision to January 1, 2009. This means that each employer will have to pay the difference with the Second Quarter SUTA form.
Also, the State of Tennessee has increased the rate by .6% for all employers on Tables 1, 2, and 3. This decision has also been back dated to January 1, 2009 They will be sending all employers effected a statement of premium due in the next few weeks. When you receive this notice, please send us a copy so that we can make sure that you are not double paying these increases. As we are technically plugging the excess from the 1st quarter in the 2nd quarter, the math will get convoluted.

We are happy to announce that the 2009 Tax Season has come to a close. This however is not the end of some of your concerns.
If you filed an extension please keep the following deadlines in mind:
Partnership Returns with Extension Deadline (1065): August 15, 2009
Corporate Returns with Extension Deadline (1120): September 15, 2009
Personal Returns with Extension Deadline (1040): October 15, 2009
